PalmPay Unveils New Way to Convert Airtime to Cash

May 30, 2025 – PalmPay has officially introduced a simpler way for Nigerians to convert airtime into cash directly through its mobile app. The new feature, called Recharge2Cash, is now live, and it lets users quickly turn excess airtime into money in their PalmPay wallets, even if the airtime was mistakenly purchased.

According to a spokesperson from PalmPay, “We created Recharge2Cash to help users easily convert airtime back to real cash. Many users over-recharge or receive airtime they don’t need. This solves that issue instantly.” This move is expected to support over 25 million Nigerians who use PalmPay for savings, bill payments, and transfers.

How to Convert Airtime to Cash on PalmPay

To get started, users must download the PalmPay app from either the Google Play Store or the App Store. Once installed, open the app and tap the Recharge2Cash button on the homepage.

Users should then:

• Select their mobile network (MTN, Airtel, Glo, or 9Mobile)
• Enter the OTP sent to their phone
• Type in the amount of airtime they want to convert (₦50–₦5000)

After this, the app shows the exact cash value to be received, minus a 12% service fee. Once confirmed, the cash is credited to the PalmPay wallet within minutes. This method is fast, reliable, and doesn’t require a separate Recharge2Cash account.

Aside from PalmPay, there are other popular platforms offering airtime-to-cash services. One of them is Prestmit, which also supports all Nigerian networks and allows airtime conversion with a minimum charge of 20%.

To use Prestmit:

• Download the Prestmit app and sign up
• Select “Sell Airtime” from the dashboard
• Choose your mobile network and enter the amount
• Transfer the airtime to the number provided by the app
• Upload a screenshot of the transfer as proof

The converted cash is credited to the user’s Prestmit account once verified.
