Enugu Magic Labs Second Batch of Animation Training for Youths

The Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training Program (EMAT) is back with a second batch, aiming to train over 400 Nigerian youths in 2D illustration and 3D motion design. This six-month intensive animation course, led in partnership with Magic Lab Academy, is a strategic move by the Enugu State Government to grow youth involvement in Nigeria’s creative industry.

According to the Enugu SME Center, this initiative is not just a training exercise but “a pipeline into Africa’s creative tech industry.” With the global animation market now worth over $394 billion, Enugu is stepping up to help its young population tap into this high-value digital economy.

“We’ve been so impressed by the progress of our current EMAT trainees—the creativity, the discipline, and the hunger to learn,” a spokesperson from Magic Lab Academy shared. “With Batch 1 almost wrapping up, and after lots of calls from our community, we’re excited to announce that Batch 2 is now open.”

This second edition is powered by the Enugu State Government through the Enugu SME Center in collaboration with Magic City Labs, a subsidiary of the globally recognized Magic Labs Studio. The program is known for its practical, hands-on training and boasts over 500 alumni working in companies like Netflix, Disney, and top African animation studios.

Designed to be accessible, the program offers up to 80% subsidized tuition, making it affordable for youths eager to enter the digital creative space. The training provides a solid foundation in high-income skills like animation, motion graphics, and illustration, which are in high demand across the world.

Applicants must be between 16 to 45 years old, employed or unemployed, and passionate about storytelling and animation. They must also be able to read and write, and have access to a computer that meets the technical requirements:

  • Processor: Core i5
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Free Disk Space: 16GB
  • Graphics Card: Hardware-accelerated OpenGL
  • Operating System: Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11

“Animation is the future and Enugu is not watching from the sidelines,” said a representative of the Enugu SME Center. Interested youths are encouraged to apply immediately via the official portal: https://bit.ly/EMATProgram.
