The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched the registration portal for the National Youth Conference, popularly known as the Youth Confab. This initiative aims to provide a structured platform for young Nigerians to participate in national development and policy-making.
Speaking at the announcement, the Minister emphasized that the conference will be “youth-led, inclusive, non-partisan, and transformational.” The focus, he said, is to develop “youth-informed, youth-approved, and youth-led solutions that speak directly to the needs and aspirations of Nigeria’s vibrant youth population.”
According to the Minister, 36,000 youth delegates will be selected from Nigeria’s 360 federal constituencies to take part in the conference. He noted that this includes participants from the diaspora and all 774 local government areas.
“This is more than just a conference. It is a generational turning point, a national movement, and a call to action. It is a platform for us to listen, learn, and lead together,” he added.
Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, another top government official, described the initiative as a way for youth to directly influence national policies. “The youth confab is a platform established by the Nigerian government as a structured avenue for young people to contribute to national discussions and policy formulation in a way that ensures their ideas translate into action,” said Olusanya.
Eligible participants include students, entrepreneurs, creatives, young professionals, community leaders, and Nigerian youth in the diaspora, aged 18–35. A small percentage, about 10%, aged between 35–40 will also be considered.
Interested individuals can now register as youth delegates or as observers. They are also encouraged to submit policy proposals for consideration.
